Understanding Underwater Pool Lighting
Choosing the right lighting for a swimming pool is important for both visibility and safety. Underwater pool lights generally use relatively low power, but they can still provide sufficient brightness for residential and commercial pools.
Most underwater pool lights are available in a wide range of power ratings, typically from 3W to 80W, although many commonly used models are below 30W. For safety, pool lighting is normally designed to operate at low voltage. Common options include 12V and 24V systems, which help reduce electrical risks in wet environments.
LED technology has become a popular choice for underwater pool lighting because of its low energy consumption, high efficiency, excellent brightness and long service life. Using a high wattage light does not necessarily mean better lighting performance. Excessive power can increase electrical load and make heat management more difficult. If heat is not effectively dissipated, it can affect light output and shorten the service life of the fixture.
